Therapy dogs are more than just classroom pets; they can be integrated into specific tasks with students. At Jasper Elementary, Iceman helps students with developmental disabilities improve their communication skills by having the students tell Iceman to sit or stay. Our therapy dogs are trained to provide support in schools; they are different from service dogs. This program is designed to deliver emotional, social, and academic support by introducing therapy-certified dogs to interact with students, teachers, and guests. This approach has consistently demonstrated the ability to enhance student motivation, drive academic success, and significantly reduce stress and anxiety.
